Claude was a French-Canadian trapper who lived in the 19th century and operated from and around Fort Bailey. He appeared in Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning. When the fort was besieged by hellhounds, he was among the men tasked with its defense, often acting at the behest of James. Claude was killed in the werewolves' final assault on the fort.
History[]
As a kid, he and his brother Jean-Pierre grew up in France, where his grandfather once told him a myth about werewolves, named "les loup garoux" in French, in which someone who got bitten can prevent themselves from turning by killing the responsible werewolf before the transformation was complete.
Before the events of the movie, Claude's brother joined the fort's annual trade party which typically leaves in spring to trade pelts for winter provisions and then returns in fall. At the start of the movie, the party's return was two months due. Following a hellhound attack on the fort, one of the killed creatures was revealed to be Claude's transformed brother when they found an identical tattoo on it.
Later on the same day, he and Cormac threw the dead hellhound onto a pire and put its head on a stake just outside the gate to scare other werewolves away. Together with James the two apprehended Ginger Fitzgerald when they suspected her of murdering Seamus. Claude also assisted James when he was throwing Milo out of the fort following his father Seamus' death. He also was among the men who rounded up the half-tranformed Geoffrey Rowlands when the boy went to visit his mother's grave.
Using Brigitte as bait to lure a transforming Ginger back to the fort, James waited at the gate to kill her and was accompanied by Claude. But after Ginger quickly killed James with a slash to his neck, Claude and Cormac were rapidly dispatched by the hellhounds that she let in.
