Emily Jean Perkins is a Canadian Actress who played Brigitte Fitzgerald in the films Ginger Snaps and Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed. She also played the 19th century incarnation of Brigitte Fitzgerald in the prequel Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning.
Together with co-star Katharine Isabelle, she is the only actor who appeared in all 3 movies of the Ginger Snaps film series. Perkins auditioned on the same day as Isabelle at their agency in Vancouver, reading to one another off-camera. Screenwriter Karen Walton said that they were exactly as she had pictured the characters when their taped auditions had arrived[1].
Alongside Isabelle, she also appeared in Insomina (2002) and Another Cinderella Story (2008), in which both also play the roles of sisters.
Emily started playing Brigitte at the age of 22 in 1999 when it first started filming. She was also in It (1990), Juno, and She's the man. She continued working as an actress until she retired in 2019.
Her role in Ginger Snaps gained her Best Actress award at the Málaga International Week of Fantastic Cinema in 2001. In 2004 the horror magazine Fangoria awarded Perkins their Chainsaw Award for her work in GS2: Unleashed
She was formerly married to Belgian Canadian academic Ernest Mathijs, who has written about cult films, including Ginger Snaps in the book John Fawcett's Ginger Snaps.
