The Hellhounds are the werewolves featured in Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning. The name was given by Fort Bailey's residents to the werewolves terrorizing the fort.

History[]

Where the first werewolf was originated from is unknown. Several Canadian trappers in 1815 were known to have been ambushed by one or several werewolves, who all either died or transformed into werewolves.

The werewolves pursue Brigitte and Ginger Fitzgerald as they are lost in the Canadian Wilderness to Fort Bailey, where it is discovered that they have been terrorizing the fort's residents for some time.

As Ginger further transforms into a werewolf, she begins to have a "connection" with them, and successfully ushers them in to attack and kill everyone in the fort. The werewolves leave Brigitte and Ginger alone under Ginger's protection.

Appearance[]

The hellhounds appear slightly different from the werewolves from Ginger Snaps and Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed. They are depicted with brown fur, a wider build, and a different snout shape.

Significance[]

Knowing information about the origin of these werewolves is key to where the Beast of Bailey Downs came from. However, little backstory is given about them, only that several residents of Fort Bailey were themselves infected and transformed, hinting at werewolves who transformed even earlier in time.

Trivia[]

  • The werewolf design changed yet again, with these wolves being even more pointed in build and have darker fur, compared to the almost bald werewolf of the first film and the grey werewolf of the second.
  • In a deleted scene, folklore drawings of the werewolf signify that the curse is even older than the Fort's founding. It is unknown if werewolves in this universe exist outside of Canada.
