Ginger Snaps Wiki

Jean-Pierre was a former resident of Fort Bailey in the 19th century. In 1815 he joined the annual trade party as head of the boat crew and left for Hudson Bay to trade pelts for winter provisions. He and the party never returned to the fort. He had a glass eye.

A tattoo identified a killed hellhound as the transformed Jean-Pierre.

Two months after the party was due to return during fall, the fort was attacked by hellhounds. One of them that entered the fort was killed and a closer inspection revealed that he had a tattoo identical to the one Jean-Pierre had and also a glass eye. Implying that he and at least some other men of the party were bitten by werewolves and had turned into ones themselves.

When Jean-Pierre entered the fort as a werewolf, he sought out his former sleeping quarters, where Reverend Gilbert locked Brigitte and Ginger Fitzgerald with him, recklessly risking the girls' death. The Hunter saved the sisters from the werewolf by shooting it with an arrow.

Jean-Pierre had a brother named Claude who was a trapper at Fort Bailey. They both grew up in France. When they were kids, his grandfather once told him a myth about werewolves, named "les loup garoux" in French, in which someone who got bitten can prevent themselves from turning by killing the responsible werewolf before the transformation was complete.
