Extrapolation[]

Most of the dates in this timeline are extrapolated from Brigitte's calendar, acquired from a tampon box bought for Ginger. The first date which is crossed off is October 2, a full moon, also the date when Ginger was bitten by the Beast of Bailey Downs. The red circled date, October 30, is the full moon. The year 1999 was found on a missing poster for Trina Sinclair, which gives October 24, 1999 as the date of her disappearance.

The other dates were estimated based on time of day and transitions from scene to scene (for example, from day to night). For events where the time of day was not shown, the most probable estimate is given.

  • After Biology class, Brigitte goes to the store and helps her sister buy hygiene products and acquires the calendar
  • After that, Ginger smokes a joint with Jason, Ben and Tim in the back of Sam's van
  • Brigitte meets Sam for the first time
  • Brigitte discovers that Ginger was growing hair from her wounds at school, they visit the school nurse
  • Pam discovers bloodsoaked panties during laundry, she prepares Ginger's favorite dessert[4]
  • After this, Brigitte and Ginger have an argument
October 6
(Monday) 		At daylight, Brigitte is seen crossing this day off in the calendar[5]
anytime from October 6 to 22 these events might happen either on the same day when Brigitte sits in the shed (Oct 6), the same day she discovers Ginger's tail (Oct 22, see below), any day between or on several different days in that timeframe
  • Brigitte watches a werewolf movie[5]
  • Brigitte discovers a used shaver with white hair and shaving cream in the basement bathroom, Ginger then enters the bathroom
  • Ginger walks through the school's hallway with two prominent white streaks in her hair
  • Ginger makes out with Jason on the hockey field[6]
  • Brigitte meets Sam in front of the school, he says he "spent a week of his life looking for her" (we do not know when he started looking though[7])
October 22

  • In the evening, Brigitte discovers that Ginger has grown a tail

  • At daylight, Brigitte meets Sam in the County Greenhouse, she receives the silver ring
  • She later encounters Ginger and Jason when the two make out in front of Jason's car, the two then drive off[9]
  • In the evening Ginger and Jason have sex in his car, on the way home she kills Norman, she has more white hair streaks now
  • Moments later, Brigitte gives Ginger the silver ring as a belly button piercing and Ginger now has visible fangs
October 24
(Friday) 		definitely a new day after the previous night, this is the date when Trina was first considered as missing as seen on the posters
  • Norman's remains are found in the morning
  • Brigitte helps to hide Ginger's tail by taping it onto her left leg prior to gym class
  • At the hockey field, Jason meets Ben and Tim and discovers blood on his pants, Brigitte talks to Sam while everyone watches
  • During the hockey match, Trina knocks Brigitte over and Ginger snaps, beating Trina up, Ginger is sent to the guidance office
  • Afterwards, Brigitte and Ginger go to the Greenhouse to meet Sam, he tells them about monkshood
  • Ginger shaves her legs and discovers a claw growing out of her right ankle
  • In the evening, Trina confronts Brigitte about her missing dog, Ginger drags Trina inside where she slips and dies
  • Ginger and Brigitte hide the body in the freezer, their parents return home from grocery shopping
  • Ginger and Brigitte bury Trina in the tool shed.

October 30
(Thursday) 		this is the day when Brigitte discovers they have monkshood at home and decides to use it on the very next day[10]
  • In the evening, the Fitzgeralds have dinner and it's revealed that Pamela knows Ginger skips classes and the police wants to talk to her about Trina's disappearance
  • Brigitte discovers the dried monkshood while talking to Pam, Ginger tries to cut her tail off while Brigitte walks in and tells her about the monkshood
October 31
(Friday) 		when the clock radio goes off the host says "Happy Halloween", Halloween decorations and costumed people can be seen everywhere[11]
  • In the morning, Brigitte traps Ginger in the bathroom
  • Brigitte meets Sam at the Greenhouse and they prepare the monkshood serum
  • Ginger breaks out of the bathroom and goes to school where she meets Ben and Tim in the hallway, she asks them if they go to the Greenhouse Bash this night.
  • Brigitte accidentally gives Jason the monkshood shot, Ginger kills Mr. Wayne in the guidance office and later the janitor in the hallway.
  • That night, the Greenhouse Bash Halloween party is held
  • Ginger fully transforms into a werewolf during the van ride
  • Sam is killed by Gingerwolf, who accidentally kills herself after lunging into Brigitte's knife

Trivia[]

  • Some scenes seem they take place immediately the next day, but logically they should appear several days later.
  • Interestingly, pages from Brigitte's diary from the bonus content on the CD do not appear to match up with this timeline, with entries suggesting the events of Ginger Snaps only taking place over a few days from October 28-31, but this does not match up with Brigitte's marking of her calendar.
  • The real October 1999 started on a Friday, not a Wednesday as in the Ginger Snaps-universe. Years with Octobers matching the weekdays on Brigitte's calendar include 1997, 2003. 2008, 2014 and 2025.

Notes[]

  1. ↑ 1.0 1.1 This is only true for the Ginger Snaps-universe. In the real world, October 1999 started on a Friday, not on a Wednesday. Also, in 1999, the only months where there were two full moons were during January and March on January 1 and 31 and March 2 and 31. The full moon in October was on October 24.
  2. ↑ In a later scene, Brigitte says "bitten on a full moon", confirming that the attack when Ginger was bitten did indeed happen on a full moon. And this would be October 2.
  3. ↑ This is most likely not in the middle of the night. Ginger talks about distracting Trina, which would not be necessary if it was past midnight. Also Ginger and Brigitte left when their parents were away for counseling, which is also an argument against midnight. The werewolf attack clearly took place on the evening of October 2.
  4. ↑ In the dinner scene, Ginger wears the same clothes and has the same disheveled hair as in the scene with Nurse Ferry. Suggesting this really happened on the same day. It also couldn't have happened on October 6. The following October 6 scene happens at daylight, and the dinner with the dessert clearly takes place after dusk.
  5. ↑ 5.0 5.1 In a deleted scene ("Priest of Prey"), the footage of Brigitte marking October 6 is edited into the scene of her watching the werewolf movie.
  6. ↑ This scene is shown after the hallway walk. Ginger wears different shoes and a different skirt than in the hallway scene, suggesting these scenes happen on different days.
  7. ↑ If we take the notion "I spent a week" literally, this encounter could have taken place on October 10, one week after Ginger smoked in the van on October 3. This would be a Friday, matching the fact that it is apparently a school day. He might have started looking for her at a later date though. If the encounter took place on the 22nd, preceding the scene when Brigitte crosses this date off in the calendar, he started looking for her around October 15, more than a week after he must have found the photo of the werewolf that she dropped on October 3.
  8. ↑ This day takes place between two definite dates: October 22, the day Brigitte marks in the calendar and October 24, the day of Trina's disappearance. It is impossible to construe another sequence of events where this day is not October 23.
  9. ↑ In this scene, Brigitte says "(Ginger) is ovulating". On average, ovulation occurs around the 14th day after the start of a menstrual period, which would have been on or around October 16. In this case, October 23 would typically not be considered a day when ovulation happens.
  10. ↑ A deleted scene ("PMS is the Least of Your Problems") takes place before the dinner scene that leads into the monkshood discovery. In the deleted scene, it is implied Brigitte told Ginger about Jason's assault to which she replies "I'll kill him". This suggests that the assault happened at the same day as the dinner on October 30, because Brigitte locks Ginger up on the very next morning, not just to stop her from harming herself (cutting her tail) but also to prevent her from taking revenge on Jason.
  11. ↑ although October 30 is circled in the calendar and coincides with a full moon, there is no evidence that points towards the final day and therefore all Halloween activities somehow taking place at October 30 rather than October 31
